Welcome to the Office of Vocations website for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Lexington
This web page has been developed especially for you. Listening to God's call is referred to as "discernment". We believe that God has called all the baptized to a unique vocation to holiness and service. Whether you are a student in high school or in college, whether you are single, dating or married, whether you are a Deacon or a Religious Sister or Brother or thinking about becoming a priest, you too are called to listen to the invitations to which Jesus Christ is calling.
Job Opportunity
The diocese is currently seeking a Vocations Coordinator. The Coordinator will work with the Director of Vocations to help create a culture of vocations to the priesthood and religious life throughout the diocese. The major job duties include: coordinate communications from the Office of Vocations; maintain the Access database; maintain the diocesan vocations website and social media sites; develop press releases, publications, presentations and promotional materials; and plan, promote and execute vocational programs and events. Go to catholicjobs.com for more information. Send resumes or inquiries to: sroberts@cdlex.org by Friday, May 25, 2012.
The Diocesan Serra Club visited Saint Meinrad Seminary on Friday, March 30, 2012. Over twenty members, along with their chaplain Fr. Michael Flanagan, visited the Lexington seminarians and took a tour of the campus. While there, they presented a gift to each of the seminarians. There are currently five of our twelve Lexington seminarians studying at Saint Meinrad.
Several times a year we host Vocation Retreats specifically for those who are discerning a religious vocation. Over the course of five days, young women explore the life and charism of the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia.
Three seminarians, Arockidas "Arock", Alan Carter and Gary Simpson, will be ordained transitional deacons for the Lexington Diocese. There are also twenty men who will be ordained permanent deacons.
