Video on Priesthood

In times of joy and happiness, sadness and sickness, the Catholic Church has always been a foundation of support for the world. One of the pillars of the Church is the Priesthood.

In Persona Christi Capitis

“A priest, by virtue of his ordination and the sacred power entrusted to him, acts in persona Christi captitis, in the person of Christ, the head [of the Church]. . . . It is really Jesus who is baptizing.  It is Jesus who is offering himself in the Mass.  It is Jesus who is forgiving sins in confession.  It is the raised hand of Jesus expelling demons from a possessed man.  But it is his priest who is saying the words, acting in the very person of Christ (CCC#1548).” (To Save a Thousand Souls, 25-26)

(To Save a Thousand Souls, 5-22)

Diocesan Priests

“A diocesan priest is a man who has been ordained for a particular diocese.  In most circumstances, he is assigned to work in a parish within a diocese, taking care of God’s people.  This is the great work to which a diocesan priest expends his life.” (To Save a Thousand Souls, 44)
